The Yamaha R-S500 is one of three two-channel, R-S line HD audio receivers (R-S300, R-S500, R-S700) released in late 2010. All three models host a classic vintage design combined with modern, high-tech components. As an upgrade from the R-S300, the Yamaha R-S500 supports a higher wattage of 75W per channel. More importantly, it adds along Zone 2 technology, meaning someone else in another room could listen to music and even control playback. It also adds A, B, or A+B speaker selection. Like its counterpart, the versatile receiver is compatible with Yamaha’s iPod and Bluetooth Wireless docking stations / receivers. And it too relies on ToP-ART technology to eliminate resonance, Pure Direct to reduce distortion, and dual aluminum-extruded heat sinks that ensure the audio is always crisp and clean.
