Impedance selector: Manual suggests 4-ohms setting with 6-ohms speakers. Not good! Use 8-ohms setting for better dynamic power. Tested with Wharfedale Diamond 10.1, much better sound, no overheating.

5 agree

radio reception isn't clear unless the signal is very strong

3 agree

The Yamaha R-S300 is one of three two-channel, R-S line HD audio receivers (R-S300, R-S500, R-S700) released in late 2010. All three models host a classic vintage design combined with modern, high-tech components. As the base unit, the R-S300 offers 50 watts per channel output, compatibility with optional wired or wireless Yamaha iPod docks, and compatibility with an optional YBA-10 Bluetooth wireless audio receiver. Also included are subwoofer outputs and a phono input. Designed for audiophile-grade sound reproduction, the Yamaha R-S300 relies on ToP-ART technology to eliminate resonance, Pure Direct to reduce distortion, and dual aluminum-extruded heat sinks that ensure the audio is always crisp and clean.
