The HTR 5650 is a high-performance audio/video receiver from Yamaha that offers a step-down from the company's HTR 5660 model. Featuring Yamaha's Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology signal purification technology, this model utilizes six-channel amplification with an individual output power of 80 watts. All-channel stereo DSP technology provides 5.1 surround sound in the form of Dolby's Surround Pro Logic II feature, decoding and optimizing un-recognized file formats for maximum quality audio. The 5650 also includes automatic 24-bit digital-to-analog conversion technology, applying field reproduction to multi-channel sources. Video conversion is also available via an S-video to Composite jack, with additional jacks accommodating CD, DVD, D-TV/CBL signals and more. Quick, temporary audio/video connections can be made through a variety of front panel inputs, minimizing setup time and hassle. The unit also features a customizable sound program feature with 24 presets for content of varying dynamics, with a total of 44 options available after user variations. Other presets are accessible through the included remote control unit, which can also send signals to similar Yamaha products such as home theater speaker systems and subwoofers. Multiple speaker setups can be linked to the receiver, with an a/b switching feature providing one-button transition between groups. The inclusion of power transistors allows the unit to provide the cleanest possible signal to its outputs, with low impedance drive capabilities allowing virtually all types of outboard speakers and woofers to function with the receiver.
