The Whirlpool EB9SHKXVQ (referred to as EB9) is Whirlpool budget 18.5 cu.ft. bottom freezer refrigerator model. Feature wise it is similar to the more expensive GB9FHDXWB (referred to as GB9). The main differences are the lack of electronic temperature control, only 2 fridge shelves instead of 5 and the lack of deli drawer. The biggest difference overall is the energy usage per year. The more expensive GB9 uses only 392kWh per year whereas the EB9 uses 448kWh per year. Whilst this 14% increase in energy usage might seem significant, the EB9 is still one of the more energy efficient refrigerators on the market and is rated by Energy Star as highly efficient. The EB9 sets of features includes an icemaker, two door bins, and two glass shelves. As a budget model it is only available in white.

About one year after I bought this my freezer coils began freezing up, thawing INSIDE the freezer, filling the freezer bottom and freezing into a solid block of ice--and then when there is no more room, leaking out onto the floor (my first clue something was wrong.) It is a pain in the butt taking off the back panel (which requires removing the icemaker first,) and blow drying (melting) the ice off the coils, soaking up the water, etc. This is happening repeatedly. This is the fourth time in a year's time.
