A money-saving alternative to heating the entire home, this portable electric heater delivers comfortable warmth wherever it's needed most. Designed for a large 16-by-16-foot room with an 8-foot ceiling, the unit's energy-efficient Vortex technology fully circulates warm air throughout the room in just minutes. Choose from two heat settings--low at 800 watts or high at 1500 watts.
For added convenience, its automatic climate control adjusts the heat output and fan speed at all times to maintain the set temperature, which means the room doesn't need to cool down in order for the heater to turn back on. Great for at home or at the office, the unit offers simple top-mounted controls, whisper-quiet operation, and a variety of safety features including a cool-touch cabinet and grill, a non-glowing heating element, and automatic shut-off for peace of mind. Model is made for 120 Volts only
The AVH2 Whole Room Vortex Heater features automatic climate control which adjusts the heat output and fan speed to maintain a desired temperature. Vornado's Vortex technology delivers continuous, uniform heat to the room you are in, saving you energy and money. Advanced safety features such as a cool touch case, automatic tip-over protection and automatic safety shut-off system provide worry-free use.
- Vortex technology fully circulates warm air evenly throughout the whole room
- The exterior remains cool to the touch no matter the heat setting or how long the heater runs
- Automatic climate control adjusts heat output and fan speed to maintain set temperature
- 2 heat settings and fan-only mode for year-round use
- Advanced safety features including tip-over protection and automatic safety shut-off system for worry-free use
- Assembled in the USA, whisper quiet operation and backed by a 5-year limited warranty
Simply set the temperature to the desired setting. The AVH2 begins to raise all of the room’s air temperature to the selected setting. When the temperature is reached, the heater automatically lowers heat output and fan speed to precisely maintain the set temperature.
Ordinary space heaters are inefficient, cycling on and off, leaving pockets of warm and cold air in a room. The AVH2 provides only the heat you need, when you need it, maintaining your desired room temperature.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which is best AVH2 or DVTH?
The AVH2 has two different heat output settings. 750 watts and 1500 watts The DVTH has a digital display for the temperature and it only puts out the max of 750 watts.
The AVH2 is an update of several of the Vornado heaters that work well. I own two of the previous models and they have worked flawlessly over the years.
It would be good to have the added benefit of the AVH2's ability to produce more output if needed. The DVTH might be good for a small room where not a lot of heat is required. These heaters are not designed to blast out very hot air. The fan in the heater distributes the air all over the room and not just out the front and up to the ceiling. Some heaters such a radiant heaters heat everything around them and don't do a good job of heating the entire room.
Although this heater has a fan that is used to distribute the heat, it is not really a stand alone fan. It does not produce an enormous flow of air like the Vornado fans do.
It is designed to gently warm an entire room and not just send out extremely hot air that goes immediately to the ceiling. I have owned every type of heater available and I own three Vornado heaters and they have provided excellent heat for many years. They are quiet and they simply work.
Can you plug this into a good surge protector Instead of directly into the wall socket?
I would recommend against doing so. Any type of power strip - with or without a surge protector - is usually used for smaller electronic loads. Larger high-powered loads such as heaters draw a lot more current on a continuous basis. They can overheat or overload many power strips or surge protectors unless the surge protector, strip and cord are all rated for heavy duty use. This unit also would not benefit from surge protection the way that sensitive electronics would.
