Vizio continues to raise the bar for affordable HDTV with the introduction of the 37" VX37L LCD HDTV, the successor to their L37. The VX37L is priced at $899, around half the price of an equivalent Sony product. It supports HD content up to 1080i and includes a built-in NTSC / ATSC/ QAM HDTV tuner to play local over-the-air (OTA) and unscrambled cable (both digital and analog) content.

The Vizio VX37L includes an array of standard inputs found on most TVs in its class: component (x2), HDMI (x2), RGB (computer VGA), S-Video, RCA Audio, SPDIF digital optical audio, and composite (x2). Vizio claims the following specifications:

  • 170° viewing angle (horizontal and vertical)
  • 500 cd/m brightness
  • 1000:1 contrast ratio
  • 8 ms response time
  • 50,000 hour lamp life (22 years)

Other features include Picture-In-Picture (PIP), Picture-Outside-Picture (POP), a removable base, and the ability to be wall-mounted with or without speakers. The set weighs approximately 42 lbs with the stand. The front of the TV is a combination of grey/silver and black, with the sides of the television a white color.

The Vizio VX37L can be found at your local Costco, Sam's Club, or BJ's store.

Know how jimb1234 feels. Bought my 20 inch in February, it died in July. Got a big runaround from vizio, at first they denied any product warranty, then they gave me an rma number and now they once again deny any warranty after I paid to ship the thing in for repairs. Suggest buyer be very very aware.

Purchased Vizio 32 TV on August 6, 2006 - it died on August 10, 2007. I called the Vizio support desk - their answer was "its past the one year warranty - too bad - $749 at Sams Club for 1 year and i week TV - that's not a reasonable price - did not know Vizio then but thought it was safe purchase at Sams Club - wish that I had bought another brand

I see that it's priced at $799.87 at Sam's Club online. [link]

They feature this TV in their commercial. I think it's effective; HD flat panels made affordable:
