The Vivitar DVR840XHD camcorder is a low-end high definition video camera first introduced at the 2009 CES event in Las Vegas. The new lineup of Vivitar products including the related cameras (V8025, V8400P) are slated for a spring 2009 release. The DVR840XHD model is a 5 megapixel high-definition camcorder fully equipped with a 5x optical zoom and image stabilization support for the lens (keeps the camera steady from the normal shaking patterns and movements of the human body). The device includes a 3" TFT LCD display screen for video playback options and also includes an SD memory card slot for storage with capacities up to 8GB (The device has no internal hard drive a memory card is required for video recording). The Vivitar DVR840XHD model camcorder includes additional features such as an integrated MP3/MP4 player, an integrated voice recorder, and a fairly low price tag of $249.95. As an added bonus the entire device weighs a mere 14 oz making it extremely easy to tote around on all kinds of family outings.
