The ViewSonic VMP70 is a direct-connect digital media player that can transmit USB video content in 1080p to compatible displays via HDMI or component cables. Included also is a composite interface for lower-definition transmissions as well. The VMP70 lacks the Internet connectivity featured on many competitor players (such as the WD TV), but makes up for this with extensive format compatibility, including MPEG1/2/4, DivX/Xvid, WMA, MP3, and much much more. Note that an S/PDIF port is also included for clean, clear, and crisp audio. The ViewSonic VMP70 retails for an MSRP of $129.99, but was initially released during the 2009 holiday season at a highly anticipated $99.99 discount price.

Instead of having to connect your PC to a streamer and then to a TV, you now just put the video on a USB flash drive, hook it up to the VMP70, and walla. It's simpler and easier, and requires less wires.
