The Troy-Bilt Mustang XP is a high-end zero-turn riding mower very similar to the Troy-Bilt Colt XP. The Mustang XP sports a larger deck than the Colt XP (50" rather than 42") while also sporting a more powerful engine (a 25 hp Kohler Courage V-Twin engine rather than a 20 HP Kohler Courage engine). Otherwise, the two mowers sport very similar features, including: dual-hydrostatic transmission, a pivoting front axle and a fully welded steel frame.

The Mustang XP's 25 hp Kohler Courage V-Twin engine features pressure lubrication with a full-flow filter and air cooling design for excellent durability. Its dual-hydrostatic transmission provides the Mustang XP with a true zero turn radius due to separate transmissions for each rear wheel. Meanwhile, the Mustang XP's pivoting front axle allows it to provide an extremely close cut that conforms well to curves and bumps with minimal lawn damage.
