setup is fairly awkward, need to be a little familiar with this kind of equipment

lacks QoS support, may not be able to handle multiple video streaming or gaming connections

2 agree

range is fairly limited, can't connect more than 1 floor away and there are numerous "dark zones"

This design defeats the purpose of having a detachable antenna completely. There is the onboard antenna for the receiver.Huge imbalance between the transmitter and the receiver being on separate anten

The TP-Link TL-WA701ND is a low-cost 150Mbps router. TP-Link promotes this router as being designed to establish or expand a scalable high-speed wireless N network. This router can also be used to connect multiple Ethernet enabled devices such as game consoles, digital media adapters, printers, or network attached storage devices to a wireless network. The TL-WA701ND provides 4 times the range of 11g products. The Repeater mode of this router expands the coverage and strength of the wireless signal by connecting multiple access points. Universal Repeater Mode allows access points and routers without Wireless Distribution Service (WDS) to receive your wireless signal. When you want to use the internet in a place with no power source, you can use passive power over Ethernet, meaning that a bundled power injector can send both electricity and data streams over a single RJ45 cable to the access point, as far as thirty meters away. This router is a step down from the higher cost TL-WA801ND in that it lacks the 2T2R MIMO technology (which provides high-bandwidth wireless Tx/Rx capability at further range), second antenna (for improved signal strength) and is only 150Mbps (as opposed to 300Mbps). The TP-Link TL-WA701ND has support for VLAN and up to four SSIDs.

  • 150Mbps
  • IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11n
  • 2.4-2.4835GHz frequency range
  • Detachable antenna allows for stronger antenna upgrades
  • WPA/WPA2 encryptions provide your network with active defense against security threats
  • Up to 4 SSIDs and VLAN support, allowing network administrators to segregate different services or applications to different designated users
  • Supports up to 30 meters Power over Ethernet capability for ¬≠flexible deployment
  • Wireless bridge easily joins distant hard-to-wire places wirelessly
  • Repeater mode boosts your signal to reach previously unreachable areas
  • AP Client mode makes your game console Wi-Fi enabled
  • Supports Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) assures the quality of VoIP and multimedia streaming
  • Setup a WPA encrypted secure connection at a push of the QSS button
  • CCA improves wireless performance while automatically avoiding channel con¬≠flicts
