The Toshiba 55WX800 is a high-end 55" LED/LCD television equipped with full 3D resolution technology designed to create a more immersive home cinema experience. By using 3D viewing devices (glasses) users can experience full 3D content on home televisions that include 3D resolution support. The Toshiba 55WX800 model is part of Toshiba's Cinema Series which also includes a smaller 40" WX800 model and two standard high-def displays (non-3D), all of which include the same basic body design and extra features.
The Toshiba 55WX800 model includes extra HDMI ports, however it should be noted that the rest of the device completely mimics the 40WX800 model in features and specifications. The Toshiba 55WX800 is equipped with a 7 million to 1 dynamic contrast ratio, and includes full LED back-lighting support. The WX800 device is powered by a 240Hz Toshiba "ClearFrame" processor that is fully capable of processing a variety of media sources and file extensions; MPEG4-MVC, and RealD formats are included along with several others. The WX800 device also includes built-in 802.11 b/g/n wireless support for use with the Netflix streaming function and VUDU, Facebook, Twitter and social networking sites. The device is additionally equipped with 4 HDMI ports, a component input, a PC input, and HDMI-CEC support for use with a single universal HDMI remote.
The Toshiba WX800 model and cinema series televisions will only be available in the United States upon release in Q4 2010.
