Robot Turtles is a board game for kids inspired by the Logo programming language. It provides crucial brain development and computer programming skills to children as young as 4 years old in the context of family fun. Players dictate the movements of their Robot Turtle tokens on a game board by playing Code Cards: Forward, Left and Right. When a player's Robot Turtle reaches a jewel they win! If they make a mistake, they can use a Bug Card to undo a move. The game has many levels so, as the players advance, they will encounter obstacles like Ice Walls and use more complex Code Cards (like lasers to melt the walls). Play continues until all players collect a jewel, so everyone wins. Beginner to Advanced levels will make it a family favorite for many years. It includes a large Game Board, 40 Tiles, 4 Robot Turtle Tiles, 4 Jewel Tiles, 4 Code Card Decks (45 cards in each deck) and instructions. 2-5 players can play at once and everyone who gets the Robot Jewel wins.

  • Why is this so cheap than the older version? Is the quality going to be cheaper?

    The production quality of this new ThinkFun version is actually quite improved over the original, with a sturdier display box, improved graphics, and gold foil to fancy-up the special tiles! The cost difference is the result of the high costs involved in a small initial print run. While the original version of Robot Turtles was limited to 25,000 copies made available through the inventor's Kickstarter campaign, ThinkFun has mass produced this phenomenal game which helps lower costs and make this new version of Robot Turtles less expensive to consumers.

  • What's the difference between this and the older model?

    ThinkFun has kept the essence of the original Kickstarter version with the following enhancements for broader appeal:
    - Improved instructions + FAQs.
    - The graphics have been altered to define the game play pattern.
    - The cards, tiles, storage compartments and box have been improved with more durable materials.
    - The bug card is now a special round tile.

  • How do you play the game and what is it about?

    There are 4 turtle tokens that you place on the board and the goal is to get them to their same colored gem. You start off with just the turtles and the gems on the board and gradually work up to using the obstacle tokens (ice blocks, walls, etc.), and you use the direction cards to move your turtle around the board. One card per turn. One card is to rotate the turtle, another to move it one space, etc. The first person to the gem wins. It teaches the basics of programming.
