The Sony BDZ-EX30 is an unreleased Blu-ray Disc DVR announced in Japan on August 26th, 2009. This device is very similar to the entry level Sony BDZ-RS10 Blu-ray DVR, save for a second digital tuner and 320GB of hard drive storage. Users can record to either the hard disk or a recordable Blu-ray Disc. Improvements over previous models include a new CREAS 2 engine for improved video playback quality and upscaling support, plus a new Dynamic VBR mode for better video recording. Unlike the additional Blu-ray DVRs announced at the same time by Sony, this particular model does not feature DLNA support for sharing media content over a home network. In addition, the BDZ-EX30 is not able to stream content to Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP) or X-1000 series portable media players. The Sony BDZ-EX30 does not currently have a set price or release date.
