Pros

Better frequency response than most headphones under $100, let alone under $40.

2 agree

Remarkable bass response for low=priced earbud-style headphones.

2 agree

Full control over music and calling plus an integrated microphone makes these an excellent choice for iPhone users.

Cons

In-line remote's play button feels cheap and flimsy.

2 agree

Below-average cable quality shortens the lifespan of these otherwise well-built earphones.

2 agree

The treble on these tends to be a bit harsh, especially while listening to metal.

2 agree

Not very good for exercise as even a small amount of sweat makes the earpieces slip out easily.

The Sony MDR- EX38iP is one of four made-for-iPod/iPhone headsets released in May 2010. All four models feature an integrated microphone for hands-free chatting, and an in-line remote that puts commonly used iPod/iPhone functions within fingertip reach. The MDR-EX38iP earbuds were actually released in September 2009 as a precursor to the superior DR-EX300iP. It features smaller 9mm Neodymium drivers and lacks a carrying case, but it includes more color options (black, white). Included also with the MDR-EX38iP are three sizes of earbud cushions to ensure a comfortable fit, and a cord adjuster for conveniently controlling the length of the long 1.2mm cord.
