Edit

The MHC-EC79i is a mid-range shelf system and iPod dock from Sony. It is essentially a higher-power version of the MHC-EC69i, with 380 W total output rather than 100 W. The EC79i's speakers employ a 3-way, 3-driver system, and contain most of the unit's design and performance upgrades over the EC69i. Music stored on an iPod or iPhone connected to the integrated dock can be played while the connected device is charged. It also features a standard single-disc CD player, which also plays back CD-R/RW and MP3 formats. It includes an AM/FM tuner with 30 presets, and comes with a remote control that can navigate an attached iPod's menus in addition to operating the shelf unit itself.
