Based on the one year old top-of-the-line MDR-EX700LP, the MDR-EX500SL is a high-end dynamically driven earbud from Sony. Based on a smaller 13.5mm driver compared to the EX700LP's 16mm version, the EX500SL adopts the same multi-layer diaphragm technology and hybrid silicon tips for a comfortable fit. A North American release date or MSRP has not been announced. The Japanese MSRP is 12,390 yen ($115 US), less than half of the EX700LP, which is $299. It was released with a cheaper model, the MDR-EX300SL, which uses the same 13.5mm driver and comes in multiple colours for 6,195 yen ($60 US). Appears to be available in silver and black.
