The Sony Handycam HDR-XR550V is a flash-based Handycam digital camcorder released in 2010. It’s very similar to the HDR-XR550V, except that it trades in a large HDD for integrated flash memory (64GB). Since a bulky HDD isn’t involved, this camcorder is there lighter and easier to carry. Like its counterpart, it hosts a Exmor R CMOS for taking 12MP still images, and a wide-angle 10x optical-zoom lens with a 26.3mm focal length for wide angle still capture, and a 29.8mm focal length for wide-angle video shooting up to a 1080p resolution. It too offers full manual controls, geotagging, SD/SDHC expansion, and an HDMI output for transmitting to an HDTV. It also supports 5.1-channel audio output.
