Handles exceptionally well in bright light environments - great for outdoor shooting, especially on the beach and amongst other reflective surroundings

Burst-style image modes help to capture fast-paced, spontaneous content - gives users a better chance of attaining a usable still image than the manual modes

Relocated zoom control is not conducive to focused, accurate shooting - sometimes difficult to locate, possibly requiring the user to take their eyes off the subject

Subtle, transparent light levels are difficult to capture effectively - not recommended for users who frequently shoot sunsets, rainbows or sky shots in general

1 agrees

Not ideal for capturing spontaneous action shots - shutter speed may be too slow to capture fast-paced, unplanned content

1 agrees

Doesn't work well with Sony lenses - most components add a considerable amount of weight to the unit while significantly reducing light response

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F717 is a digital camera released as an upgrade from the original DSC-F707. It too features a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens with a 5x optical /2x digital zoom, and a 5MP CCD. However, it adds along a larger 32MB memory stick, improved AF, shorter shutter lag, faster startup time, and improved AWB. Plus the newly added multi-burst mode lets the user capture 16 320x240 frames as part of a single 1280x960 image that plays back sequentially. There’s also a live histogram that displays the number of pixels at each luminosity to evaluate exposure. Like its predecessor, the unit is limited to 320x240 videos (besides multi-burst) and 2560x1920 stills. Included is infrared illumination and an infrared filter for taking photos in complete darkness.
