The Sony Alpha A550 is a mid-range 14.2-megapixel DSLR camera. The α550 uses a new generation of Exmor CMOS sensors and BIONZ image processors, aiming to improve picture quality in low light with more advanced low-noise processing technology. The camera features a 3-inch LCD display that tilts up or down 90 degrees. New face and smile detection for up to eight faces is integrated into the α550's Quick AF Live View. Other key features include 7fps continuous shooting and an auto HDR mode for high-contrast images.
