The Singer 1409 Promise is a low-cost sewing machine built for flexibility. This is an expanded model from the Singer 1507WC, with several extra features such as an automatic reverse to reinforce stitches, an extra-high presser foot lifter for bulky fabric, and two needle positions. These features are also missing from the model that follows it, the Singer 1748, but only 9 stitch patterns are built into the Singer 1409. As with most Singer machines, an automatic 4-step buttonhole system is built in and the stitch length can be adjusted to suit each job's needs. A heavy duty metal frame is used to avoid skips, and a free arm is available for sewing difficult areas. This model includes on-board accessory storage to help keep everything organized, and snap-on presser feet that have a quick release to make putting them on and taking them off easier.
