The Sigma SD1 is a full-fledged DSLR released as the 2011 flagship to the Sigma line. It hosts the previous-generation’s Foveon X3 CMOS sensor, but the size has been increased to 24x16mm, making it a genuine APS-C with three stacked layers—one for each major color. In addition, the crop factor has been changed from 1.5 to 1.7; the resolution has been upgraded to 15.3MP (4,800x3,200), which multiplied by thee equals 46MP; and there are now dual TRUE II image processors, making the camera faster. Also included is an 11-point autofucsing system, a 3” (460k) TFT display, and a viewfinder with 98% coverage. The moisture/dust-sealing has also been upgraded, as the Sigma SD1 now uses a magnesium alloy body with O-ring sealed connections.
