Edit

The Seagate Barracuda XT is a SATA-based, 3.5” hard-disc drive being touted as the fastest desktop hard drive currently available. It utilizes a Serial ATA (SATA) interface that has been doubled to allow for a throughput of 6 Gb/s, making it a first of its kind. It is still compatible with second-generation SATA 3 Gb/s and first-generation SATA 1.5 Gb/s interfaces, but recommended for use with the modern SATA III (6 Gb/s) motherboards being retailed by ASUS and Gigabyte. Additional features include 2TB of storage space that can in fact fit 45 hours of 1080i videos; a 7200rpm rotational speed that complements the super-fast, dual/quad core systems being popped out by manufacturers; and a 64MB cache that optimizes burst performance, thereby reducing data throughput bottlenecks.
