Scotts- Recommended Feeding Routine: Early Spring

An early spring feeding helps grass green-up after winter. You should feed around the first time you mow your grass.

Regular feedings provide the nutrients your lawn needs to look its best and withstand the stresses of weeds, heat, drought and family activity.

Make lawn care simple by following these 4 Easy Steps

1. Feed Regularly

Feeding your lawn twice in the spring and twice in the fall helps strengthen it to crowd out weeds and protect against heat and drought. There are Nitrogen-rich lawn foods that can be applied to any grass type and many products are kid and pet friendly when used as directed. If you want to kill dandelions and other major lawn weeds* while you feed, you can apply Weed & Feed products. *See label for listed weeds.

2. Mow High and Return Clippings

Mowing at a higher height allows the grass to grow in thick and develop a strong, deep root system. Leaving grass clippings on the lawn helps to recycle plant nutrients back into the soil.

3. Water Your Lawn

Well-fed lawns use water more efficiently than their unfed counterparts but you still need to water your lawn! When grass needs water, it will let you know by wilting or dulling in color. Try to take advantage of nature’s sprinkler instead of your own as often as possible and rely on the rain to water your lawn.

4. Repair Bare Spots

Reseeding bare areas in your lawn helps keep it thick and prevents weeds from taking hold. There are number of combination grass seed products available that are great for different kinds of lawns. Try Scotts EZ Seed products!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where this spreader is made?

It is made in: California USA

  • How large are the wheels?

The wheels are 9 inches in diameter. It's a great spreader.

  • How is the spread when used for salt in the winter? Does it have a good spread or does it just trickle to the floor with very little spread.

It works great, with a nice adjuster to choose how much of a layer you want to put down, as well as side blocker, which you can switch to either side, to control it from spreading out on sides. The only very small issue is, sometimes the trap door gets stuck, which of course it will, when you are dealing with salt and snow. It's easy to get unstuck.
