The Sanyo Eneloop Lite is a rechargeable Ni-MH battery initially released in Japan (Summer 2010), but soon after ported to the rest of the world. It retails in AA ($8.64) and AAA ($7.09) sizes, and it’s geared for low-to-medium power consumption devices, such as remote controls and alarm clocks. Both units are capable of approximately 2,000 recharges, which, according to Sanyo, will save the average consumer at last $1,000 over his or her lifetime. Plus they include low self-discharge properties, allowing them to be used even after 3 years of storage. Most importantly, the Eneloop Lite batteries are produced from electric power generated strictly from solar energy.
