The Samsung UN32D5500 is a 32” LED-LCD HDTV released as a direct upgrade from the UN32D4000. It uses more advanced technologies and an upgraded LED backlighting system to provide a 1080p (versus 720p) resolution, which translates to higher quality video. In fact, 1080p is the same resolution used by Blu-ray discs. Like its weaker 4000 Series counterpart, the 5500 Series UN32D5500 doesn’t offer a web browser or any other advanced network functions (access to social networks, access to Blockbuster). However, the UN32D5500 does offer AllShare DLNA Networking, meaning users can stream music, videos, and photos from DLNA certified devices, including their computer. Plus a myriad of additional ports have been provided for connecting to a home stereo system, a Blu-ray player, a DVD player, or even a USB based device like a digital camcorder.
