Edit

The Samsung PN64D550 is a 64" plasma HDTV by Samsung. It resides in the 2011 line of Samsung plasma HDTVs, which are Samsung's thinnest yet. The PN64D550 is only 1/4" thick. Like all other TVs int the 2011 series, the Samsung PN64D550 features a 1080p resolution, digital signal processing to provide a 3D effect for 2D content, and streaming media from a DLNA-enabled computer using Samsung Allshare. The Samsung PN64D550 uses shutter 3D technology in which the 3D glasses flicker between left and right lenses at the same frequency the image and the TV flickers between two different versions of the same image to create a 3D image. Hence, the 3D glasses are active and requires batteries. Unlike the high level Samsung 2011 plasmas in the D8000, D7000, and D6500 series, the Samsung PN64D550 does not have software features such as the Samsung Hub, which allows the user to run Samsung Apps and browse the Internet, directly from their television.
