The Samsung SIR-TS360 is a HD-compatible receiver released in early 2004 as low-cost version of the SIR-TS160. Aside from receiving a DirecTV signal, over-the-air HD content can also be viewed with the addition of an antenna. When using a digital broadcast signal, users can check the signal strength through the box for configuration purposes. Aesthetically, the SIR-TS360 features a sleek silver design while integrated a front display. Control buttons are accessible on the right-hand side of the unit. The maximum resolution is set at 1080i, however 720p, 480p and 480i modes are also available. Software features of the Samsung SIR-TS360 include DirecTV’s 7-day Advanced Program Guide and Guided Search by actor names, movies and other categories. A picture-in-picture window allows television viewers to watch programming while browsing menus, while Samsung’s Quick Guide will display listings by 30-minute time-slots, all in an opaque overlay.
