Samsung's SyncMaster XL20 is a high-end monitor that uses LED backlighting to illuminate its display. It has a 20"-diagonal screen with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and the overall aspect ratio is 4:3 with brightness of 250 cd/m2. The LED backlighting is supposed to provide a brighter and wider color gamut than typical LCD displays, and this does translate into a higher number of colors, though the price point is higher. The XL20 has a high viewing angle and emphasizes picture clarity, and some of its intended uses are digital television or watching videos. It does not, however, have any HDMI inputs as it was released in late 2006, though its D-Sub connector is high-definition compatible. The display's native resolution is 1600 x 1200, and it accepts DVI-I, DVI-D, and VGA video formats, and it has a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
