Released in the spring of 2006, the Samsung HT-Z512T home theater system lies in the mid-range of the Samsung lineup. The bundle consists of 4 speakers and a subwoofer which employ 5.1 channel surround sound. Strangely, as of June 2009, manufacturer descriptions for the HT-Z512T are no longer available from Samsung’s product sites both in the US and internationally. Two of the HT-Z512T’s speakers are tall towers while two are smaller satellites. The HT-Z512T comes with a 5-disc changer and the system can convert standard DVDs to 1080p high definition. Additionally, the HT-Z512T comes with both CD and DVD writers. Wireless technology is used to connect the rear satelite speakers to the hub and ports are provided at the rear of the hub to connect other external devices. Also contained in this package are a universal remote and an iPod docking station. Wall mounting brackets for the speakers and subwoofer are included. The HT-Z512T produces a total sound output of 1200 watts which is on the upper end of the mid-range by 2009 standards when compared to the slightly more expensive HT-TWZ312 putting out 1000 watts, and the high-end HT-BD2.
