The Pioneer BDR-203 is an internal PC, Blu-ray Disc/DVD/CD combo unit that reads and writes BD-R/L, DVD, and CD discs. Once hooked up via its Serial ATA interface, the unit can write on Blu-ray discs at up to 8x , but reaches speeds of 16x/32x when handling DVDs/CDs. Note also that the unit relies on a low vibration mechanism, which in fact ensures high-accuracy writing—essential for replicating HD-quality content. Other notable features of the Pioneer BDR-203 include support for “Buffer Underrun Protection,” vertical or horizontal installation, and high-storage capacity up to 50GB on dual later BD media.
For users who only need to read BD discs, they may want to consider the BDC-2202 instead. It is much more affordable.
