The Philips 40PFL9704 is one of three backlit LED HDTVs (40PFL9704, 46PFL9704, 52PFL9704) released as part of the 9704 LED Pro Line in late 2009 for the UK. The 40PFL9704 is the smallest in the batch at only 40” diagonally wide. Signature to all three models is their LED Lux backlight engine, which utilizes independent LEDs that are lit/dimmed separately, resulting in a powerful dynamic contrast ratio up to 5,000,000:1. Included also is a 200Hz refresh rate, a 1ms response time, and a 50% increase in energy efficient. Note also that all models in the series host both Ethernet and WiFi connectivity, and are equipped for DLNA media streaming directly from the Internet. Additional features include give HDMI 1.3 inputs, integrated subwoofers and tweeters, and full 1080p video output.
