The Philips GoGear Connect is a portable media player set to be released in late October, 2010. This 16GB player has been designed to compete with the Apple iPod touch. The GoGear Connect is powered by Google’s Android 2.1 operating system, and has access to the Android Market for purchasing additional content. Technically, this device features a 3.2-inch LCD screen, supports WiFi, GPS, sound isolating headphones and microSD cards. A camera is also built-in for taking photos on-the-go. Users can sync the device with Philips’ Songbird software over a wireless Bluetooth connection or USB. All of the major music file types are supported, including the lossless .ogg and .flac formats. High definition (720p) MPEG4 and h264 video files and photos are also supported.
