The Panasonic VDR-D50 is a DVD Camcorder with 42x Optical Zoom, Advanced Optical Image Stabilization, Color Viewfinder, One-Touch Navigation and Built-In SD Card Slot, Records to 8cm DVD and SD Card. It retails for $330 and was released in 2008. The Canon DC310 comes similar to this one in terms of features and price range (it retails for $360). This camcorder has a very poor still image quality (.3 MB) which is a value that 10 year old cameras had. Its optical zoom at x42 is pretty impressive, but nothing special considering the price range. However, ordinary users have been raving about this product on forums online.
