Cons

the 3D capability requires a separately purchased add-on

recording in 3D seriously reduces the quality of the image - half the sensor is used for each frame required to make a 3D image (half resolution, low light performance, few manual adjustments options)

not a huge upgrade over the TM700

Edit

The Panasonic HDC-TM900 is an upper mid-cost camcorder. This camcorder is equipped with iA (Intelligent Auto), a feature that automatically selects the most suitable shooting mode at the press of a button. This function includes Face Recognition, which finds the faces of registered people (up to six faces can be registered) and optimizes the focus and exposure, tracking the subject as they move anywhere within the LCD frame. The HDC-TM900's Intelligent Resolution technology ensures sharp motion images. With its 3CMOS sensor (which operates with 7.59 million effective pixels), this camcorder can capture full HD 1080/60p video at 1920 x 1080 resolution. The 46mm F1.5 Leica Dicomar lens of the HDC-TM900 helps to produce bright images while cutting back ghost and distortion. This camcorder is capable of capturing 3D, with the add-on of a CLT1 conversion lens. The Crystal Engine Pro processor of the HDC-TM900 instantly processes images with defined detail. The optical image stabilizer helps to ensure that you will not have images blurred from camera shake. This camcorder differs from the lower cost HDC-SD800 model in that it is equipped with a manual ring (for more accurate video expression), 20x zoom (with Intelligent Zoom), five internal microphones for 5.1 recording, 32GB of internal memory and a 3.5 inch LCD touch panel display (instead of just a 3 inch display). This model differs from the higher cost HDC-HS900 model in that the HDC-HS900 model has a 220GB hard drive disc. The Panasonic HDC-TM900 camcorder is equipped with an Eco Mode, which automatically turns off the power when the camcorder is not operated for five minutes, reducing wasteful energy use and saving battery power.
