The Panasonic DMP-BD70V is a Profile 2.0 HD blu-ray player based on PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus high-image processing technology that reproduces clear, vivid, and realistic colors for an enhanced entertainment experience. The second of three Panasonic DMP-BD players, the Panasonic DMP-BD70V is an upgrade from the Panasonic DMP-BD60 in that it features a built-in VHA player designed to scale any VHS recording up to 1080 HD. In all other ways, however, the DMP-BD70V is practically a duplicate of its peer. The Panasonic DMP-BD70V retails for a slightly more expensive $449.99 (versus 399.99) and comes with a 1 year limited warranty.

The DMP-BD70V also includes VIERA CAST technology that allows users to access the Internet without either an external box or PC, not to mention a VIERA Link that allows the user to operate their audio/video components through HDMI with just one remote. In addition, the DMP-BD70V features a high definition audio decoder (Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio Essential), an SD Memory card slot and USB slot that makes it simple for users to view/share digital images and HD video, high precision 4:4:4 signal technology which works alongside the Chroma Processor Plus to process each horizontal/video signal, Pixel Precision Progressive Processing that optimizes more than 15 billion pixels per second, 16-level motion detection to categorize the image motion of each pixel, diagonal processing to detect and correct diagonals, and 1080p up-conversion to up-convert content recorded in 480i/p or 720p format to 1080p. The DMP-BD70V also boasts 96kHz surround re-master to enhance sound quality, a playback information window for displaying detailed image information, an Auto Power Stand-By function, a Stand-By Power Save function, and a Quick Start function.
