The Toughbook 19 is one of two models in the 'fully-rugged' category of Panasonic Toughbook notebook computers. It is designed for durability and versatility, targeting users who need a laptop that can withstand rigorous conditions. The 10.4" touch display is sunlight-viewable, features a concealed mode, and can be converted into a tablet PC. Advanced computing performance is not the Toughbook 19's focus, as it utilizes a 1.2GHz dual-core Intel processor and 2 GB of RAM. For use around the world, a global wireless internet service is optionally built in, while draft-n wi-fi and Bluetooth v2.0+EDR are standard. It also integrates a multitude of security features, like vPro technology within the processor and a theft protection system, while others are available as options, including a fingerprint reader. Windows Vista normally arrives preloaded, but buyers can choose to downgrade to XP. Battery life is rated at 9 hours with Vista and 10 with XP.
