Edit

The Panasonic SA-BX500 is a 130 watt 7.1 channel A/V receiver. Retailing at $800, this expensive piece was released in 2008. Reviews have been particularly bad about this one, with the brunt of the criticism laid at the little value for money this piece offers, and that other models which are hundreds of dollars cheaper have a lot of the must have features this expensive piece doesn't.  Features lacking include no analog to HDMI video conversion, only three HDMI ports, and no onscreen menu display. Given the BX500's sound quality--it's perfectly good--it could have been considered a good one if it was an entry-level $250 receiver. Unfortunately, the MSRP is an unreasonable $800.
