Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you take close up macro shots with this camera?

Yes the DMC-FZ70 is very capable at macro shots. It has a button on the back to switch the autofocus from normal to macro, enabling the camera to take pictures as close as 1 cm at the wide angle focal length! Also in the iA (intelligent auto) mode, the camera automatically detects when the subject is close enough to require the macro setting and switches it to macro, then automatically switches it back to normal when the camera is moved further away from the subject. You can also select a macro focus function in the manual, aperture priority, shutter speed priority, and program modes, and can select between autofocus macro and macro zoom.

  • Does it come with lens cover

    Yes and a neck strap.

  • Is this camera good in low light situations?

Yes, great results from taking available low light shots (dimmed incandescent ambient light, indoors on very cloudy days, shadows, evening, darkened rooms at night, etc., no flash) in the iA and iA+ (automatic exposure) modes. The camera used ISO speeds in the 400-800 range. The pictures are very well exposed and lighting is even, and noise is not an issue. When necessary in iA or iA+ modes, in some low light situations the camera will take multiple exposures automaticallly (HDR) and combine them internally produce a great shot with balanced exposure levels. In the iA+ mode there is a wheel on the back of the camera that allows you to adjust the lightness of the exposure. Plus as you get acquainted with the many capabilities and menus on this camera you can set the shutter, aperture, ISO limits, etc. For those few people who have negative comments about this camera in low light situations,
