The Lumix DMC-FX66 is a 14.1 megapixel point-and-shoot digital camera from Panasonic, set to be released in February 2010. This slim camera features the “Venus Engine VI,” which Panasonic claims allows for faster operation and reduced noise when taking photos. Start-up time is approximately 1 second; ensuring snapshot opportunities are less likely to be missed. With a 5x zoom and an ultra-wide-angle lens, average users should find enough flexibility with this Lumix to perfect their shots. On the back of the camera users will find a 2.7” LCD screen for previewing and reviewing content. Casual photographers will likely enjoy the ‘Happy Mode” option, which automatically applies a vivid color filter to photos and video. Up to 720p resolution movies can be recorded. The DMC-FX66 is compatible with both SD and SDXC memory cards. Including the rechargeable battery, the complete package weighs 5.11 ounces.
