The PA-MC5500 is a high-end audio amplifier unit from the Onkyo company. Designed to work in conjunction with the PR-SC5507 audio/video controller, this model features 9 220-watt channels with audio-tuned reference capacitors for improved outputting. Onkyo's own Wide Range Amplifier technology helps to maximize the soundstage area, with three-stage inverted Darlington circuitry for reduced distortion levels. Consistent levels are ensured with the inclusion of several custom-engineered transistors, designed to maintain a steady flow of high energy current. Copper base plating has been implemented for safe grounding, while the PA-MC5500's high-current circuit boards have been covered with thick copper foil to ensure minimal impedance. In addition, all XLR inputs feature gold plating for long-term protection while all RCA inputs have been fitted with machined solid brass. The PA-MC5500 has been recognized by THX, who have given the unit their Ultra2 certification of amplification quality.
