The micro four-thirds Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm f/2.8, is the slimmest in Olympus' series of pankcake prime lenses. With a convenient focal length of 34mm on a 35mm camera the lense captures wide angle to close range shots. They are available for micro-four-thirds system cameras. The lens is sold separately or as part of camera kit with the Olympus E-P1. The wide-angle pancake lens is designed for shoooting landscapes, cityscapes, portraits and close up pictures up to .02mm. Its overall length is 22.5mm making it a slim and compact design. Even when mounted the lens is suitable for commuting. The lens maximizes a camera’s performance and creates clear, high quality images.
The micro four-thirds system, unlike the four-thirds is designed for digital, whereas four-thirds is DSLR. Micro four-thirds do not have a space for a mirror or pantaprism. This allows allows for smaller design and a shorter flange range. An MFT lenslike the Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm f/2.8 has a smaller sensor, resulting in a broader depth of field. This allows better control over blur and is ideal for landscape shots.
