The OCZ Z-Drive e84 is one of two plug-and-play, bootable PCI-E SSD drives released in September 2009. Designed as a “cost-effective means for enterprise customers” seeking to employ SSD technology, the Z-Drive retails in multi-level cell (e84) and single-level cell (p84) formats. The SLC Z-Drive e84 provides maximum speeds of 750MB/s write and 800MB/s read, and it’s available in either 256GB or 512GB sizes. It works by combining high-speed, 8-lane PCI-E architecture with a four-SSD, enterprise-grade RAID 0 configuration that essentially eliminates the SATA bottleneck. The result is lowered power consumption, enhanced shock resistance, and superior durability, which in turn equates to reduced maintenance costs and more energy savings.
