Edit

The OCZ Vertex EX Series is an internal 2.5" SATA II Solid State hard drive that has been designed to work with enterprise servers and anyone demanding ultra-fast failsafe storage. This drive is faster than the OCZ Agility EX Series, boasting read and write speeds of 260MB per second and 210MB per second respectively for the 120GB model and it has a sustained write speed of 100MB per second which is the same as the Agility EX. Released in early and mid 2009, these drives are part of a new wave of affordable SLC (single-level cell) designs which are more expensive to produce than the common yet slower and more heat sensitive MLC (multi-level cell) design. Although pricier, this technology is currently the fastest SSD format and is very reliable with no moving parts. Combined with super fast transfer rates it is ideal for video or audio editing applications where large amounts of data must be saved and recalled extremely quickly, and in this case where the series has even been given an 'Enterprise' designation making it useful as an enterprise server with top speed and fail-safe operation. To quickly explain, an enterprise server is a central computer to an internet based company, where programs specific only to that company are located and accessed.
