Edit

The GeForce 8600 GT is a mid-range model in Nvidia's 8 series of consumer desktop graphics cards. Its specifications should enable it to handle less demanding games and perform adequately on lower settings in more demanding graphics applications released in 2009. It features 256 MB of GDDR3 memory, SLI-readiness allowing dual GPU setups, and GigaThread technology, which aims to increase processing efficiency through multi-threading. Other incorporated technologies include Nvidia's Lumenex engine, which enables 128-bit HDR rendering for increased realism in lighting. Nvidia offers a step up from the 8600 GT with the 8600 GTS, nearly identical technologically but featuring higher clock speeds.
