Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can a cat squeeze through the spacing of the bars, or could this work as a cat barrier?

Most cats could get through. The space between bars is about 2-7/8".

  • Is the latch complicated enough that my toddler won't figure it out?

The latch for North States super gate is absolutely complicated enough so your toddler won't figure it out! You have to pull down the latch lock/catch while lifting the gate up at the same time to swing it open. A toddler will not be able to do this.

  • What is the best way to hang the gate where the top of the stairs has a stair banister on one side and drywall on the other?

Hang the non swinging side on the drywall with drywall screws, not the ones that are provided.. you need to get special anchors that will stay in the drywall..
