Edit

Scheduled to be released in the 2nd half of 2010, Symbian^3 is the evolution of Nokia's smartphone operating system Symbian, and a direct successor to Symbian S60 5th Edition. Over its predecessor, Symbian^3 is promised to feature a highly polished, simplified user-interface, support for high-definition media such as HDMI, an improved networking architecture, better hardware graphics acceleration, tighter social networking integration, and availability of the Qt 4.6 application framework.  Most importantly, though, Symbian^3 is an open-source mobile operating system, following the trend set by Android, Moblin, Maemo, MeeGo, LiMo, and Bada. Symbian^3's first handset will be the Nokia N8.
