The Nikon D5100 digital SLR camera is a newer version of the Nikon D5000 that provides an updated 16.2 megapixel DX format CMOS sensor.  With an ISO range of 100-6400 and an EXPEED 2 image processing engine, this camera is able to capture clear photographs, even in low light. With updated recording from the D5000 model's HD 1280x720p video feature, this camera offers HD 1920x1080p, for higher quality movies.  Equipped with a High Dynamic Range, in pictures encompassing extreme contrasts, it combines two exposures to offer cleaner and crisper photographs.  Also, the swivel vari-angle LCD monitor, has been enlarged from 2.7 on the D5000 model to 3 inches, and an extra side hinge has been added to increase the flexibility range, allowing pictures to be taken from more angles.  Finally, offering a new effects mode, pictures can be taken with a variety of creative looks, including selective color, night vision, miniature, and color sketch.
