The Nikon NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4 is a manual focus wide-angle lens similar to the Nikon NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8. The NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4 features a longer focal length than the NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8 as well as a larger maximum aperture of 1.4. Otherwise, the two lenses sport the same basic features, most notably Nikon's Close Range Correction system.
The NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4's 35mm focal length provides it with a 62 degree maximum angle of view, making it best suited for photojournalism applications. Its maximum aperture of 1.4 allows the NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4 to perform extremely well in very low lighting conditions while also allowing for very fast shutter speeds. Meanwhile, the NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4's Close Range Correction system allows it to produce higher quality images at its minimum focus distance (1 ft).
