The Nikon NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8 is a manual focus compact wide-angle lens similar to the Nikon NIKKOR 24mm f/2.8. Besides their focal lengths, the NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8 and NIKKOR 24mm f/2.8 only differ in minimum focus distance (0.7 ft for NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8 and 1 foot for NIKKOR 24mm f/2.8) and maximum angle of view (74 degrees for NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8 and 84 degrees for NIKKOR 24mm f/2.8). The NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8 still sports the same maximum aperture of 2.8 and Close Range Correction system as other lenses in this line.

The NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8's 28mm focal length, 0.7ft minimum focus distance and 74 degree maximum angle of view make it a camera lens best suited for landscape and general photography use. Its maximum aperture of 2.8 allows the NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8 to perform well in low-light and natural light conditions while allowing for faster shutter speeds than smaller apertures. Additionally, the NIKKOR 28mm f/2.8's Close Range Correction system allows it to produce higher quality images at close ranges.
