Edit

The Nikon Micro-NIKKOR 55mm f/2.8 is a manual focus camera lens similar to the Nikon Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8. The only real difference between the two lenses is their focal length (55mm as opposed to 105mm). Otherwise, the two lenses sport the same features, including Nikon's Close Range Correction system and a maximum aperture of 2.8.

The Micro-NIKKOR 55mm f/2.8's 55mm focal length offers better up-close performance compared to 105mm focal length lenses which offer better performance at greater distances (the Micro-NIKKOR 55mm f/2.8 has a minimum focus distance of 0.9 ft whereas the Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8's is 1.34 ft). Its Close Range Correction system allows the Micro-NIKKOR 55mm f/2.8 to produce higher-quality images at close range by way of a 'floating element' design. Additionally, the Micro-NIKKOR 55mm f/2.8's maximum aperture of 2.8 ensures excellent low-light and natural light performance.
